Maximalist assault on the senses. It starts running immediately and never stops. Every single second has a million things to look at. I’ve never been this immersed for an entire runtime in a theater. Format defining stuff showing the absolute true potential of animation. Every single frame of this film is a perfectly composed comic book panel, and many with completely different art styles than the last. The way it makes the first movie feel so much smaller is mind…

It’s a refreshingly great Disney remake. A magical world recreated with a charming story carried by an incredible lead performance. The visuals suffer a bit seeing it in 3D with the way of water still being in my mind, but on its own merits, it has some very beautiful shots throughout. Every iconic moment translated perfectly and I enjoyed the changes in focus this one took, particularly with the settings culture and Ariels own personal character.

Capitalism as our alien overlords. The cop’s it’s enforcers. The people it’s mindless worker bees. Who says political commentary needs to be subtle when it can be this bombastic. Very compelling film that balances over the top action with a lot of different compelling ideas and things to say.

Beautiful to look at. Seamless transition from game to film keeping all the fun elements and using them in cinematic ways. One of the funniest kids movies I’ve seen in a long time. Felt accessible for everyone. The voice cast was all great, but particularly Bowser was my mvp.
    Peaches is a banger song.
