Yet another Pandemic horror film, there have been a bunch and few have been good. I did like Host a fair bit but for a topic that naturally lends itself to horror more than any other genre it's been a bit disappointing, generally.
This one is written by Scream writer, Kevin Williamson, and it's pretty clear to see the stylistic similarities in the story. It builds urgency and tension really well and does a great job of provoking a response in the audience, it's also really well choreographed and has some nice funny moments too. Sometimes predictable and the connection to the pandemic topic is somewhat arbitrary for much of the film, other than being a convenient plot device, though its predictability is outweighed by the acting, which is fantastic throughout but especially from the two leads, and it's just a really enjoyable experience for the most part. Fun.
