The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals

The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals ★★★½

I like musicals but they have to follow a certain mold.

1 Be visually interesting. Not necessarily polished or whatever, just interesting.

2 Have good songs. Duh.

3 Have some humour.

That means my style is Rocky Horror (except that fucking terrible remake), Little Shop of Horrors, Sweeney Todd type.

So yeah, I liked this. Max tells me the main character reminded him a bit of me, not joining in friends from work etc, and to a degree he's right only I'm worse. Still, I liked the main character and his Steve Buscemi eyes. He's seen some secrets of the universe and been underwhelmed by them. I liked the cynical main girl too, and the long haired dude. My favourite was the asshole work guy with the tache though, he had all the best lines.

I liked the songs but I can't remember a single one because my old brain doesn't work like it used to. I expect I need another view or two. Good singers tho.

It also felt really long but whatever, it's all good.

I wasn't a massive fan of the end, where yay he's alive but ha ha fuck you he's an alien Xerox now. I just like happy endings in films (which is why Alien Cubed can go fuck itself in the face for killing Newt and Hicks) because real life is lacking in them. Having said that I did like that as the credits rolled and they bowed, the lassie was still in character.

I'm sure I'll watch it again, as well as the casts other stuff.
