GoodFellas

GoodFellas ★★★★★

“Far back as I could remember I’ve always wanted to be a gangster”

Goodfellas is just powerful, hilarious, well shot as Martin Scorsese’s other films in decade. Goodfellas never disappointed me (of course not it’s a classic gangster film about Henry Hill and his experience with the mafia). Ray Liotta amazingly casted as Henry Hill giving a rare performance alongside Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. The film’s heavy handed highlights from Ray Liotta’s perfection narration explaining his experience through visuals right. Martin Scorsese created a gangster world without rules, laws, punishment or blessing, Ray Liotta, Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci knock it out of the park spilling out rich dialogue we never hear in gangster films today.

I love the music in this film goes from being spicy to almost relaxing setting Goodfellas in the right spot. Gangster films today became a whole sub genre nowadays Hollywood doesn’t seem to realize what made Goodfellas rich, powerful and masterful in the first place. Recent gangster films like Gangster Squad, Capone, Lawless, Black Mass, Legend, The Family or The Gambler don’t hold up as much from Goodfellas. In the 2000’s, 2010’s gangster films pretty much vanished from existence instead showing the same plot, characters, settings, story and script. I founded Gangster films totally repetitive, inciting today never brings back Martin Scorsese’s dark comedy magic back to life. Still Goodfellas defines Henry Hill as a person going through criminal acts in the mafia getting in trouble, hurting his family. Henry Hill realized his wife, family meant more to him than just meaningless crime, violence or business.

Martin Scorsese deals Henry Hill softly, The cinematography is amazing, Martin Scorsese’s wonderful music pumps blood into my skull, One thing changed, Goodfellas randomly predicted Quentin Tarantino’s dark comedy in his films, Goodfellas followed this rule put humor, jokes treated darkly or emotional shows personality for these characters. I enjoyed Martin Scorsese’s breathtaking view into Henry Hill a wise gangster character who cared about his family, wife, children more than being in the mafia. Adding to his personality, Goodfellas tells a traditional gangster tale spicing things up with violence, heavy handed good acting, wonderful music gave me a film so well-directed, hilarious in recent memory.
