I don’t see this brought up much in reviews.
But I just wanted to highlight how amazing on a technical level That scene was.
I went into this with no context for what other people thought and instead of laughing I was just blown away by how they pulled it off. Apparently they cast someone that could actually do the whole scene backwards for this.
There were a lot of anachronistic elements to the movie also (which has gotten some…

  • FRED: The Movie

    FRED: The Movie

maybe part of his appeal as a youtuber (way back) was that it was all just him talking and describing the weird things that were happening to him. And kinda let you as the viewer fill in the gaps.
But when you give all the characters in his rants faces it kind of undermines that.
Like it was darkly funny in 2008 when he talks about his messed up childhood and obsessive tendencies. But it wasn’t the actually events that…

It plays like one giant fever dream

This movie was exactly what it needed to be. And I can’t rag on it for that.

  • Godzilla: King of the Monsters

    Godzilla: King of the Monsters

I went into this wanting to see giant monsters destroy cities and punch each other... And that’s what I got.
Isn’t that we are here for anyway?

I know it’s a metaphor for the nuclear age  and all that but c’mon... , let’s be real here  were here to see a dinosaur breathe fire at a giant moth.  Plot holes and weak characters are almost superfluous in these kinds of movies at this point (with notable exceptions like Shin Godzilla (2016)

    Zack Snyder's Justice League

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Light spoilers —- (But not really)

It was pretty good... Some scenes were a bit drawn out and pointless but overall I thought it worked for the most part.
The added scenes in the last 20 min felt like a series of long trailers playing back to back which annoyed me.
But I’m glad that Snyder got a chance to follow up on the scene with the flash in Batman v Superman and I actually am curious as to what…

  • Black Panther

    Black Panther

I don’t care much for marvel movies or super hero movies in general just to get my bias out of the way...
Narratively and thematically I get why this films stands out amongst other mcu films and is so loved by so many. But going with my gut here it just feels like an average marvel movie.
It’s a good movie (of course) but the movie itself didn’t convince me too hop on the hype train.

Visually stunning and wonderfully animated. Feels like the first time in a while that Pixar has released a movie with this clear of a vision.

Also the score is really good.
    💯 worth watching

    Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde

As far as the filming of this movie goes. The set’s never felt cheap and the cinematography was competent enough. And the acting was passable to be honest.
I think this movie (even with the premise) could have worked. It would likely never been brilliant or even decent but I think all the elements were there to at least make this a passable film.

My main problem with it was the lack of making basic structural stuff clear and also…

Beautiful art design and some solid voice actors. The story didn’t really hook me until about 25 min in, but after that I was very engaged by the story. It pulled on the heartstrings (but not quite in a Disney sort of way) and stuck with me afterwards.

Definitely recommend it. But keep in mind it will seem very “been there done that” for the first 20 min. It quickly becomes it’s own thing afterwards though and it’s really quite beautiful.

    A Silent Voice

A very touching story that will pull at your heartstrings. Solid film, definitely recommend it.

»Apparently the english voice actress for the main character is actually deaf in real life so I thought that was pretty neat.

This movie made me feel absolutely miserable by the end.
