The Godfather: Part II

The Godfather: Part II ★★★★★

Al Pacino’s performance is the best I’ve ever watched and might ever. His facial expressions, both calm and angry, capture the cold-heartedness of Michael perfectly. You never really know what he’s thinking because of that. The progression of Michael as a character makes you feel so drained and empty inside by the end. I think where it excels at compared to the first is the emotion, the family drama gets way more serious and there are 2 specific scenes that are a punch in the gut towards the end.

My only real issue is that I don’t enjoy or get as invested in Vito’s side of the story. De Niro is great of course but I don’t find it near as engaging. The parallels between both sides are beautiful though.
