Adam’s review published on Letterboxd:
Zodiac, an unappreciated and misunderstood masterpiece, is nothing short of flawless in its reconstruction of the real-life events on which it is based. The attention to detail in investigating the killings and recreating these murders is astounding.
Because of the psychological toll taken by those investigating the case, the film is a mash-up of several genres, including police procedural, meticulous crime drama, and intimate character study.
Zodiac is many things, and its procedural nature and technological brilliance set it apart from the genre, which should come as no surprise given that it originates from the imagination of David Fincher. The picture wonderfully reveals its true colors and unfolds in a satisfactory manner.
Overall, Zodiac is a fantastic picture that demonstrates how dread and fright can be produced through lengthy periods rather than jump scares or anything fast. Along with superb acting and a subtle soundtrack, this film is absolutely unique and overlooked.
