Gummo still works. It's a hodge podge of malnourished, borderline poverty stricken characters who talk about sniffing glue, banging girls and killing cats. It's like a collection of home movies glued together into a feature length documentary, soundtracked to golden oldies, stoner and black metal. It was brilliant then and it's brilliant now. Writer & director Harmony Korine would eventually break into the mainstream with Spring Breakers, a film that is more mood & style. But the same philosophy was still here, way back in…

So bad but impossible to hate. Jon Mikl Thor is impossible to hate. Mostly this movie is way too boring, but then the ending busts out and you won’t believe your eyes. Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare is the result of an astronomically high ego, but where someone like Tarantino has the money and talent to make something that the masses want to see, Thor just offers heapings of the most misplaced sex appeal this side of a Lorenzo Lamas film…

What even is this thing? Sure it’s weird, but it also steals from every movie it can, including Rosemary’s Baby, The Omen, Carrie, Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Fury and others. Not that I mind a good ripoff movie, and stirring all these ingredients in a pot should make for a pretty fun time at the movies. But The Visitor is total nonsense made at the tail end of the 70s, and the only thing that makes it…

Hey Vern, It's My Family Album

I’m a hardcore Ernest and Jim Varney fan and had seen this many moons ago, but barely remembers anything about it. It’s basic premise is Ernest pushes his family photo album onto Vern, offering the chance for Varney to play dressup for an hour and play various non-Ernest characters. It’s gonna be majorly annoying for anyone not already a fan, but it was truly great to see Varney playing all of the silly characters. This serves more as a show-case for Varney than as an Ernest movie, and as that it’s quite priceless for a fan like myself.

Great gothic horror, wonderful viewing for the spooky season. Barbara Steele is mesmerizing in this movie. Literally a perfect movie to watch for Halloween.

This sequel gets a lot of shit for being Hollywood hack job, which is a huge disservice. No, it doesn’t match the greatness of the first, but it feels like it’s own film, trying something new and successfully differentiating itself from the Arnie film. This movie is like Die Hard meets Alien. It was supposed to be loud, violent, and abrasive. You can feel the influence of MTV and the 90s seeping in. Great cast, including Gary Busey, Bill Paxton, Robert…
