A singular and astonishing visual achievement, but just not as funny to me as Mr. Hulot's Holiday and Mon Oncle. So I find it a tough hang at times, but its place in the cinematic pantheon is undisputed. There's no Wes Anderson, Roy Andersson, Charlie Kaufman, Aki Kaurismaki, Ruben Ostlund and countless others without this.
