Cernan Mari’s review published on Letterboxd:
I know absolutely nothing about this character, but I thought their film debut to be a solid superhero adventure; well performed, effectively character-driven, occasionally hilarious, rich in cultural representation, and bursting with quick and stylized martial arts action.
Obviously, it stands out with its close combat sequences, full of dynamic and graceful martial arts battle sequences, and sharp choreography that's rapid but never confusing, which would undoubtedly thrill viewers.
Although it follows the familiar formula and lacks a strong storyline for an origin story, there are a few unexpected twists and turns that distinguish this character's path from the others.
Overall, it's a well-balanced film. I was pleased with what I saw. I'm excited to know more about Shang-Chi’s world and how it will connect to other storylines in the future.
