good main characters have nothing to lose. they shoot their shot relentlessly. they indulge in their every desire, they walk through the open door. they bring up the question, what does this mean, what would you do for fifteen minutes of John malkovich, with the trip and the long ride, and the rich life, not to worry about making ends meet anymore but instead how long you can experience ruling class utopia. and then they agree to exploit it in order to please the people they can get material pleasures from.
