Chris Charpentier’s review published on Letterboxd:
I thought this was...fine. I had some fun and there’s some competent filmmaking going on here but it’s just not that fascinating. Most of the characters feel underdeveloped and one-note and the action (save for the swordfight in the blacksmith shop) is fairly boring because of the way they shot it and they way they choreographed it. Johnny Deep has a great performance and the characters have potential to be something more but I don’t think you get that in this movie. Let’s see how the other ones stack up.
