I want you to understand that I went into this with no idea who Fran Leibovitz is. After 10 minutes of the first episode (I cannot believe this is a series) I’m still completely confused. Every audience she has, regardless of the size, is the hottest crowd I’ve ever fucking heard, and they all want her to be mad for some reason. And she delivers so quickly and with such glee! Glad she’s having fun, I guess! Whatever! Good bye.
I felt so instantly invested in the Yi family. I knew Steven Yeun would be amazing, but I couldn’t take my eyes off Han Ye-ri, who did so much with so little. Youn Yuh-Jung could have coasted on quirky grandma energy but went deeper and created such a warm and unforgettable character. She made me miss my own grandma very badly. And the kids were just perfect. How could you not love them?
Beautifully shot and directed, a sparse but effective score. I can’t recommend it strongly enough!
