“Write a story. Just for me.”

art about loving art will never get old but this feels like something else entirely.

the thing i appreciate most about the safdies is that their films are always imbued with a sense of such youthful vigor that you find it hard to believe these guys are ever going to age. a movie with this amount of scenes of people just screaming at the top of their lungs has never felt so charming and sexy. a horror movie for anyone with a penchant for self destruction and who secretly enjoy it.

Each Quarter Pounder with Cheese burger features a ¼ lb.* of 100% fresh beef that’s hot, deliciously juicy and cooked when you order. What did the poor devil think?”

i want to know what it’s like to have béla tarrs brain for just one hour. it must be like achieving artistic nirvana and having a deep love/hate for friedrich nietzsche. undeniable to me that this is one of the greatest cinematic landmarks ever made, composed like he directed earth itself to do his bidding in a tragedy (tragicomedy?) about how humans can get other humans to do their bidding. plodding and plodding and plodding along.

id really really really like to believe that rian johnson gathered all these actors in this giant house, hid some cameras everywhere, hit record, and none of what we saw was fictitious

“Three people can usually keep a secret as long as the other two are dead.”

deposed kings looking back at their empire. impossible to feel like this isnt some sort of culimination of scorsese’s career, in a genre he managed to revolutionize while also contemplate on, in The Irishman there is a particular amount of detail and attention focused on age, and how the generations after you will remember you (or not) long after you return to the ground. none…
