Honor among thieves ain’t what it used to be.
”The past can awaken overnight.”
“Mine isn’t asleep...it’s dead.”
In what is easily one of the best “man on the run” crime flicks ever, this movie kicks off with a fantastic opening setup that sucks you in and holds your attention all the way through.
You can totally see how this film must have been massive inspiration to Michael Mann’s Heat. It’s not the same story, but it’s definitely the same vibe. Even Lino Ventura looks and feels a bit like a French De Niro.
BONUS POINTS for the random throwaway shot of a secretary trying to feed a live goldfish to a bewildered cat. WTF was that about?!?!? 😲
”A situation like this calls for some hard thinking”
