A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master ★★½

Dream Master fails to bring really anything new to the franchise. It’s the beginning of full-on one liner, non-menacing Freddy.

Was pretty disappointed that they brought three characters back from Dream Warriors and really fail at giving them the proper deaths they deserved. Tuesday Knight wasn’t Patricia Arquette that’s for sure, and there weren’t any characters that stood out in particular to me other than maybe Alice; she was okay.

Most the kills didn’t live up to its predecessors, excluding Debbie’s roach transformation, which really stood out due to how intensely vile her death is. Which highlights some great practical effects in that scene and not to mention, Freddy’s resurrection scene was pretty epic too.

All in all, if you’re a huge fan of the franchise like I, then I say give it a watch, but this isn’t one I’d recommend to someone who hasn’t seen any of the previous films, because I can certainly see it leaving a bad taste in someone’s mouth.
