So after all this time I read that apparently Barbara Stanwyck was wearing a wig in this! Nice excuse to rewatch one of the all-time great films. It’s pretty extraordinary how influential this film was, and it’s probably the one I feel Billy Wilder’s passion pulsate most strongly through. The cinematography does an amazing job of not being showy while also being utterly captivating in its noir qualities, same with the dialogue. And of course the central trio are perfection.
