The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption ★★★★½

“Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane.” - Red
“Every man has his breaking point”. - Red

A really well made movie based on a novel of the same name written by Stephen King, intense, emotional and a jar of reality.

Besides the story it treats some topics like institutionalization, how prisoners with the passage of time become totally submissive to the point of being, the jail, the only reality they know about. How they lose the track of the time with a fear of going out to the streets, having a feeling of loneliness, which leads them to suicide in the worst of the cases.
The corruption takes place in here, but that’s something typical to see in at least every film, nothing is fair nor clear at all, but that happens in real life so, why not?
The expression: “Trying to be more Catholic than the Pope” applies very well to the boss’s acts. Giving a fuck about what he preaches.
Another topic that the film highlights is the importance of the music in the life of a mentally healthy person and how it brings freedom to the soul.
It remarks how important is having hope, but also how dangerous can it be, anyway, that’s what keeps man alive.

Highly recommended.
