"What an excellent day for an exorcism."
"You would like that?"
"But wouldn't that drive you out of Regan?"
"It would bring us together."
"You and Regan?"
"You and us."
Of all the things said by Regan/Pazuzu to everyone throughout the course of the film, this exchange between her/him and Father Karras is the one that creeps me out the most. I don't mind the insults or the implication that his mother sucks cocks in Hell and I don't know why it would really bother him either when he's got pretty good reason to know that's not true, but to hear that Pazuzu wants an exorcism for the chance to get into me... That would fuck with me something fierce, if I were him.
I like The Exorcist a bit more every time I watch it. It's a film that requires patience and attention as it unfolds slowly, but has little hints as to what's happening all through it. Listening to Friedkin and Blair say that it's not a horror film in the bonus features, though, is just insane.
RIP, Max Von Sydow. That's some of the best old age acting I've ever seen from someone in their 40s...
