"Put it away, son. It's not worth you getting beat again."
"You didn't beat me. You ignored the rules of engagement. In a fair fight, I'd kill you."
"That's not much incentive for me to fight fair, then, is it?"
Whatever winds up happening in the future with this series, it had a pretty grand start to it all. The Curse of the Black Pearl has its hand in pretty much every genre other than Western or Musical. The action is fun and boisterous and the stunt work impressive. The comedy runs the gamut between polished, high-brow fare and juvenile and the horror elements with the cursed pirates was a nice surprise when first I saw this. Captain Jack Sparrow is a truly unique character to follow for this type of film and I have to tip my hat to Gore Verbinski and crew for having the chutzpah to even try.
