Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★

"A badge is scarier than a gun."

Worth the price of admission just to see three of the best working actors at the very top of their game. Kaluuya is magnetic as Fred Hampton, good enough you start to actually believe he may have been able to unite a broad, lasting socialist movement. There's a speech he gives about halfway through that made me wanna stand up and clap.

Seen some complaints about Stanfield's character being a little flat, but to me plays it perfectly as a dude primarily motivated by self-interest - the exact type of mindset Hampton raves against in his speeches. Plemons wryly identifies this trait and exploits it. Only thing holding this back from a 4.5 is that it can get a little talky, but the last 40 minutes make up for it.
