Psychology is the scientific study of human psychological processes ... Why do we behave, experience, and react as we do?
We've got a weird relationship with alcohol. I started typing this review thinking maybe it was a specifically American thing, but if there's anything to pull from this film is that the feeling is universal: getting drunk feels good, even if it's not good for you, and daily adult drudgery is....painful at best no matter where you live. So is the tradeoff to deal with that worth it?
This has some god-level drunk acting, and of course Mads kills it. I'm not sure if this is as clean and insightful as it aims to be, and I'd put forward a few other 2020 films as better portrayals of addiction (check out Affleck in The Way Back if you haven't yet, I swear), but this is still more than worthwhile.
