The first time i watched this it was really good but this time it was a masterpiece. technically brilliant and emotionally deeply affecting. a world in 90 minutes.
The pacing is very strange, lots of bits ought to have been cut (a five-second sequence of someone spooning out cream onto a plate, for example) and the revisionism of claiming that American and British forces in WWII were primarily motivated by "saving the Jews" leaves a bit of a sour taste. But for all that, Inglourious Bastards is a gorgeous-looking, multi-lingual, extremely fun homage-to-cinema/espionage-thriller/dark comedy/giallo horror and one of Tarantino's best. The international ensemble cast is terrific.
Rehab was a bit weird today. This guy in a sequinned spandex devil costume came in halfway through, totally interrupted me, and sat there talking for several hours about his childhood or some shit. Occasionally he would burst into song and start dancing around and then stop halfway through. He broke a chair at one point. He also kept on changing his outfit which was a bit inappropriate considering we were all sitting right there. Nobody wants to see that,…
the whole thing is shot like an apple commercial and i’m not sure if that’s a travesty or a stroke of genius. this is the film the 2010s both needed and deserved.
also don’t get me wrong i’m glad we live in a world where they don’t exist, but AIs are a type of life form and deserve rights fite me
