A true oddity in every sense that somehow pulls high emotion and overwhelming suspense out of its concept, which is already hanging on the thread of being God-awful. But Kelly keeps everything on track and delivers one of the most iconic films of the 2000s, and one that also just happens to be a masterful work of science fiction drama. Some odd choices with character and presentation here and there that I’m not quite sure I’ve wrapped my head around yet, but we’ll see if those clear up on a second watch. I’m in love!
