serves these kids right for not just knowing a kinda creepy dude in his lower 30s who buys them booze and drugs and let's them get wasted with impunity in his furniture-free apartment. get fucked up like the rest of us normal americans did in high school, sheesh.
too plot heavy. shoulda just been a "trapped in a house while Octavia Spencer tortures idiot teens." look i don't give a shit at all when kids in horror movies are stupid and act against common sense, but having their fates be entangled with this bigger revenge scheme involving their parents (one that doesn't even have a huge payoff sans the hit and run scene) and having dumb teen romantic sideplots bogs this down pretty heavily. Spencer gives a godly performance tho, so many scenes in this movie are a delight because of how far she's willing to go, a nice break from the prevailing self-seriousness tone.
