this is movie is just way too damn fun. showing my friends some John Carpenter this weekend while they lay around hungover 😆

  • Why Don't You Play in Hell?

Why Don't You Play in Hell?

    ★★★★½

starts off a little jumbled and slow but stick with it because it’s so worth it. this is movie is so funny.

    “Fuck Bombers Forever”

  • To Live and Die in L.A.

To Live and Die in L.A.

    ★★★★½

I missed a lot of subtleties the first time I watched this. this movie is really fantastic, exciting, and absurd even. a true gem. Two not-so-Secret Service agents going absolutely bonkers in the city of Angels.

  • Ran

    Ran

    ★★★★½

fantastically epic, a stunning accomplishment and also manages to stay compelling.

Hidetora and Lady Kaede were my favorite characters, and in my opinion brought the film to the next level while on screen.

  • Joint Security Area

    Joint Security Area

    ★★★★½

Probably my favorite “war” movie I’ve seen, mostly because friendship is the main theme and there is very little of any war.

whenever war/fighting is a topic of discussion, I always think back to that scene in 2001 A Space Odyssey when the monkey learns to use a bone as a tool,  (the tool being used for the first time ever, happens to be a weapon) and I say to myself, damn if only that monkey never picked up that bone, I wonder what the world would be like.

  • Spartacus

    Spartacus

    ★★★★½

a stunning and ambitious feat, can only wonder how it would’ve turned out if Kubrick got to do what he wanted with the script, but I still loved this.

  • Schizopolis

    Schizopolis

    ★★★★½

brilliantly clever, totally insane but it works in ways I cannot explain.

didn’t mean to rhyme there but I’m leaving it.

Turns out early Soderbergh is extremely my shit.

  • Stoker

    Stoker

    ★★★★½

I like in the beginning on the stairs, when the uncle said “I have the high ground Anakin

this was a bold, disturbing film, that definitely pulls your emotions every which way, topped with some solid twists that keep you guessing.

I really don’t want to say much more, I’d just recommend watching it.

  • Rope

You gotta watch out for those Brandon’s, they’re nuts. Us Brendan’s have nothing to do with them.

  • Ready or Not

    Ready or Not

    ★★★★½

I show this movie to anyone who hasn’t seen it, I just love everything about it, it’s so chaotic, nonsensical and funny.

To many they may not be comparable, but I would choose this over Knives Out every time.

  • Chungking Express

    Chungking Express

    ★★★★½

I was on a mission to find a Wong Kar-wai film that I enjoy, after being quite underwhelmed by In the Mood for Love and Fallen Angels, and this is it. Certainly in my opinion the strongest storyline and characters out of the 3 films I’ve seen.

  • Light Sleeper

    Light Sleeper

    ★★★★½

hell. yes. I’ve seen a few Schrader films now, so I was honestly expecting another bleak, morbid tale, and while for the most part that’s exactly what this was, what I liked about Light Sleeper was that he actually gave us a glimmer of hope. dare I say I was even charmed by the ending?
