I am wildly overwhelmed. I can’t believe it’s finished. I am about to restart this whole show immediately. I sat through this whole film wide eyed and mouth open because it’s truly that beautiful and captivating. the existential themes and messages are so deep and meaningful. what an amazing journey.
wow did people go crazy for this back in 19freaking45. I thought it was pretty good, except for a super strange voiceover for the maid that kept throwing me off. a bit of drama and mystery wrapped in one.
an ambitious drama that tackles everything from family to prejudice. having only watched my first film of his this year, Douglas Sirk has proven a very talented and forceful director, with a speciality in delivering emotionally effective films. this is no exception and is easily one of his best efforts I’ve seen.
I wonder how the version of me with hot dog fingers is doing.
