Phenomenal, one of the greatest crime dramas ever made. Elia Kazan’s direction and screenplay was simply superb. It’s expertly written as it profoundly deals with themes of corruption, resilience, as well as love and courage. Marlon Brando’s performance here was sensational, extremely influential on cinema and has become one of my favorite performances ever. This film is a perfect mixture of despair and resounding hope, and it rightfully deserved all the awards it won. The scene in the taxi was flawless, some of the greatest dialogue exchanges in cinema history.

Spectacular, a quintessential Spaghetti Western. The Great Silence is a ruthless and pitiless portrayal of the old west with an incredibly well written script. It’s setting in a snowy climate was so unique to your usual western, and the sceneries was captured gloriously. Ennio Morricone’s magnificent score was music to my ears, simply a genius. The performances by the cast were all pretty much excellent. The gunfights were top tier, and I loved that this had more violence and gore to a typical western. A fucking bloodbath of an ending, ultimately quite sad & devastating. Tarantino definitely took inspiration from this for The Hateful Eight. Sergio Corbucci’s unparalleled masterpiece.

“Sometimes  to love someone, you gotta be a stranger.”

Yeah, this was an immaculate experience. Villeneuve builds on the foundation and themes of the first film in a fascinating way. An obvious highlight was the cinematography, every frame is breathtaking due to excellent use of color grading and lighting. One of most visually beautiful films ever made. It updates the dystopian setting of its predecessor and gives it more vibrancy. Zimmer’s score was incredible as usual. It’s got an all…

Ahh class film this. Spielberg’s semi-autobiography neatly balances a coming of age story with a passion for the art of filmmaking at his young age. Performances by the cast were all around great, however Michelle Williams was fantastic and she rightfully deserved her Oscar nomination. It’s also a visually beautiful film thanks to some gorgeous frames which were expertly shot & edited. David Lynch as John Ford was superb, amazing cameo. Think it’s a sign to watch a John Ford western asap. Overall an inspiring, wholesome watch.

    That final shot… cinema.
