Knock at the Cabin 2023
The film does a lot of things right. For most of the movie it creates a nice back and forth of whether the Doomsday Four are legit or unreliable narrators. A very un-Hollywood take on a coming of age story. Nicholas Cage plays a weatherman struggling with the fact the life doesn't go the way he hopes it will. Very honest dark comedy that deals with complexities of adulthood.

Ok, I like to think I understood enough of it to get the point. But it's so crammed with metaphors it's insane. The metaphors are interesting ideas but it's so over the top the movie can't be taken seriously. For most of the movie I was just laughing and rolling my eyes at the ridiculousness of it. But that last fifteen minutes turned me into downright hating it. The best thing I can say is it will make a great subject for a future episode of How did this get made. Please, somebody teach Aronofsky about subtlety....
