I've never seen a more perfect movie. so beautifully written, no need for any real commitment to plot or character transformation when youre having this much fun. usually movies this insane are full of unlikeable characters but everyone here is so loveable and their interactions are so pure and real <3333

rich white guy (in south africa no less....) trying way too hard to be profound.. not good. a lot to be said of patriarchal fetishization of nature and his cutesy line about being part of the environment not a visitor is not reflected in his behavior. extremely individualistic decontextualized view of nature on display here

I liked looking at it tho, the ocean is pretty and it's fucked that only rich white guys have access to it to make their corny ass midlife crisis films

beautiful doc on native foodways and the fight to preserve them in community. visually very pretty, moving storytelling. talks a lot about the direct link from disrupted food sovereignty to problems like substance abuse and mental health issues in native communities. only wish it was a little more political/big picture, I think that would have tied it all together (kind of makes it out to be a native problem that needs to be solved w/in native communities when it's really the system that needs to be transformed-leaves that unsaid). really beautiful, watch if you're interested in food justice, land sovereignty, etc!
