Officially on YouTube and only over an hour, this Doctor Who fan film was made in the mid 90's when the show was in its "wilderness years". Most notable for having a lot of actors return in their roles and introducing Kate Lethbridge Stewart, a character that made it into the new series making this fan film pretty much canon. It's so 90s and reminds me of The Demon Headmaster quite a bit. I liked this a lot!
Professor Rumford is one of the best one-off characters in classic Who, up there with the Highwayman in The Visitation. The moment with the two campers being turned to bones by the stones was pretty Friday The 13th!
Matt Reeves' direction. Michael Giacchino's score. The entire cast. The flawless balance of horror, tragedy, and heart. The most we've seen from each of these in a Batman film yet. Absolutely beautiful. This is the perfect Batman film.
As an autistic person who loves talking endlessly about special interests, I can heavily relate to Edgar making this film and wanting to share to the world his love and admiration for Sparks. He does not hold any of it back.
If you're new to Sparks, the 140-min runtime might get slightly tiresome if you just want to get to know the band on a more introductory stage.
But this is the celebration Ron & Russell Mael have long overdue deserved.
