    War Hunt


    Though John Saxon receives top billing in this 1962 war film, it's probably most memorable as Robert Redford's first big screen appearance. He plays a fresh replacement who arrives at a weary front line unit in Korea that's nervously waiting the anticipated truce. He soon comes into conflict with a psychotic soldier (Saxon) who engages in unauthorized solo night missions and clearly is not ready for the war to end.

    Not nearly as much fun as the first film, though still worth a watch for those who enjoyed what is probably the best-remembered action film of the 1980's. Many callbacks to the first film include a Christmas setting, McClane's wife in peril, and terrorists with a hidden agenda. This time we're at Dulles airport and McClane gets to tangle with the bumbling bureaucrats in person (Dennis Franz, Fred Thompson) as he tries to avert disaster. Overall not a bad film...…
