On my second rewatch I noticed small details. The talk of remote controls is often brought up to show how Connie may be controlled by the illusion of free will. Race relations are often shown to indicate the white privilege of Connie. This is shown when Barkhad Abdi's character is taken by the cops and so is the 16 year old black girl rather than Connie and his new "friend."…
