Allegedly this is considered one of the greatest films for the 20th century, I don't doubt that to some people it might be and I can understand why; but apart from some beautiful looking cinematography, ultimately I fail to connect with much of this at all. I'm not really sure why because I typically enjoy dramas about a normal family caught up in the middle of political termoil beyond their control. Could be the cultural differences; could be the language barrier; could be many things but for whatever reason it just wasn't for me and I was left disinterested.

Anatomy of a Fall is very much, at it's heart, your standard, bread and butter, boiler plate, investigative, courtroom procedural but it's just so well done. The expectations for Oppenheimer where high and I am happy to confirm it did not only deliver upon, but exceeded my expectations. The first half is an amazing biopic and look at a very interesting man, but the 2nd half, trinity test onwards is some of the most powerful stuff I've seen in a film this year in the way it deals with the anxiety and horrific implications of the continued existence of such a weapon as the Atomic Bomb…

A little contrived in places but it's worth it to get the series 4 gang back together. The nostalgia was big in this one but there's also so much more to it than just that. I had a massive smile on my face throughout. The Doctor- Donna is back, RTD is back and it's 2008 all over again. I hope Bernard Cribins pops up next week.
