Sometimes movies try to push an agenda on you, whether political or social. How that is done often determines whether audiences hate it or not. If it is shoved in their faces or seen to be aggressive about it, it is almost guaranteed to face alot of backlash (see Black Christmas 2019).
Jordan Vogt-Roberts effortlessly uses shot composition, the score, and other subtle choices as he tells a story about these ancient monsters on the surface while carefully leading the audience to understand the environmental implications of man's need to colonize and destroy.
With its breathtaking cinematography, creative and realistic creature f/x, solid action sequences, and interesting characters, it is more than your avwtage monster movie.
And it has Tom Hiddleston just straight up being badass, all while wearing the most tight ass shirt💦
