Blonde Betty’s review published on Letterboxd:
“There are no empire silhouettes or colors de jour for us.”
Wonderfully understated delivery from Kelly Reichardt. You can just tell this is exactly the film she set out to make, and it shows. From the jump I knew A24 most likely wouldn’t disappoint but once I peeped that beautiful aspect ratio I was sucked in. Couple this with an INCREDIBLE soundtrack, and an actor I've desperately waited to see really show his chops since Orange is the New Black and the most perfect use of natural lighting— it all just makes for a great couple of hours.
The best part about this is on paper this film absolutely sucks. Two men in the 1800s milking a cow. Who the fuck does she think she is, Béla Tarr?
