Unmasked Part 25

Unmasked Part 25 ★★★

Unique slasher horror parody for sure. It doesn’t go for the obvious laughs like a lot of later movies. It’s something like a Shakespearean love tragedy combined with Friday the 13th.

Jason, or rather Jackson, turns out to be this English bloke that lived the summer camp nightmare we all know about. He’s hit an existential moment in his life where he questions why he needs to kill people all the time. After meeting a blind woman that does not judge him on his deformities he opens up on all these “whoa is me” bitch monologues. The joke of any slasher movie is we’re not supposed to know what motivates the killing. The punchline here is supposed to be open ended. As the title suggests, he’s locked into a world of perpetual sequels.
