Men ★★½

What a waste. While Alex Garland conjures some interesting and disturbing visuals to suggest systemic patriarchal abuse stems as far back to Eve in the garden with Adam, I found this to be rather pointless as it says nothing worthwhile or profound. Even the effects of toxic masculinity appear glib as it offers little on the status of women today other than womanhood is just about being abused and traumatized. It’s a collection of ideas that its target audience already believes and for Garland to come out and say it’s one of his dumber movies before anyone had seen it feels sort of gaslight-y to me?? Great score and sound design, though!
