  Gotham's politics feel much more national than they do municipal, it's really interesting and does a good job of helping the film ground itself rather than fall to the trappings of dull self-seriousness, a line it toes very well. As much as I enjoy some of the previous adaptations of the character I think this is the first of them to really get the pacing down pat
