Téa Leoni really excels in these kinds of grating "Real Housewife"-style roles. She's so good at it, in fact, that it can sometimes be difficult to stomach Deb whenever she's on-screen. On the flipside of that though, Paz Vega makes up for it as the fiercely protective mother who can't speak English, which complicates her role as a housekeeper for a well-off family. It's a really charming performance, using the language barrier as a decent tool to set up the drama. The romantic portion of the equation doesn't really work as well, if truth be told, but I wouldn't say it's Adam Sandler's fault (or Vega's, for that matter)...more the writing.
