A bit late to the party on this one (poor Harlan’s merely a skeleton now and that donut is quite moldy), but better late than not at all (looking at you Ransom)!
I had a blast watching this. It was much funnier than I anticipated, but my fault that I anticipated zero humor! I didn’t read enough tweets or New Yorker pieces about it first I guess. Also, I’m a sucker for mansion settings and the vibes were immaculate. Old, cozy mansion-museum with weirdos everywhere in beautiful sweaters? Yes please.
If I can “solve” something in a movie, I’m going to have a good time, though I felt the reveal fell flat. I was so confident all along that it was Ransom that I’m actually bummed it was Ransom! Why he was the most suspicious all along! Why was it him?!
The best piece of evidence in the whole movie was the blood on Marta’s shoe, which could’ve been vaguely shown to us throughout and then used in a slightly better manor (ha) than it was.
Fun ass movie. 8.5/10
