Master Gardener 2022
Schrader steps out of the shadows of his dark rooms and journal writings and allows himself a chance to grow into something more. the seeds of love grow like the seeds of hate. he's no stranger to stories of violence, and this film has plenty of it, but it's also so tender. Schrader plants a new path with Master Gardener, and it doesn't fully bloom by the time its over- its hopeful and sincere and clunky and messy. but its a ray of hope amongst an otherwise sad, angry and unstable body of work

absolutely nobody is doing it like Cruise and Co. never held my breathe during a film until now, fucking electrifying stuff. wanted to punch the air and scream so many times. a metaphor for the importance of the theatrical experience. THIS IS #REAL CINEMA
