Hollywood Cop 1987
Ending the year with Amir Shervan's second-best offering. It's no Samurai Cop, but let's face it, nothing ever will be. That being said, this is very much the prototype for what would eventually be Samurai Cop and I'll always have a soft spot for this one. And while this movie doesn't have Robert Z'Dar, it does have Cameron Mitchell and one of the most iconic line deliveries of his career.

Messiah of Evil 1973
Unnerving atmosphere paired nicely with some fantastic visuals. There's probably a style over substance argument here somewhere but while it's definitely thick with the former I don't think it's necessarily devoid of the latter. This movie is an interesting beast that somehow feels like more than the sum of its parts while still leaving me wishing there was more to it.

Dracula: Prince of Darkness 1966
2022 Cult Movie Challenge Week 40: Vampires
I avoided giving Hammer Horror its own category in this year's Cult Movie Challenge because I tend to be unimpressed with them overall but here I am, watching one anyway. Christopher Lee even showed up to the set, read the script, and said 'nah' and just fucking winged it by hissing and moaning through the thing.
Truth be told it wasn't the worst Hammer movie I've seen. Hell, I…

X 2022
Spooktober 2022 (I'll make a list and link it later unless I forget lmao)
I'll admit, I was turned off of this movie at first because the only other exposure I have to Ti West is The Sacrament which sucked shit and then seeing his smug dipshit face on his Wikipedia page (he's probably a lovely human being, I'm just a judgmental twat sometimes).
When I saw the love this movie was getting in my various social media circles, I…

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly 1966
2018 Cult Movie Challenge Week 11: Spaghetti Westerns Part 2
While I have to say Once Upon a Time in the West is the superior film, there's no denying that this is still a masterpiece in its own right. Eli Wallach and Clint Eastwood in their respective roles as Tuco and Debbie Harry have an incredible chemistry together. And Lee Van Cleef, while under-utilized, is undeniably charming as the villain.

Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II 1993
As a lover of statistics and monster movies I love the imdb-trivia that ゴジラvsメカゴジラ (Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II) apparently has the highest Godzilla-ratio of the entire franchise—a statement I refuse to fact-check—but at the end of the day, how much does it matter if the rest of the film doesn’t hold up? In the case of the fifth entry in the Heisei-era, it’s a very… Uneven affair, but not without its highlights.
The somewhat grotesque, yet quite cute baby-godzilla here…

Zack Snyder's Justice League 2021
I mean for what it's worth, it exceeded my expectations. Those expectations were incredibly low, but it is what it is. It suffers from some of the same problems that BVS did, but to lesser degree as the four hour runtime allows scenes to actually play out rather than dart frantically from one to the next. There's still very little here in terms of character moments or actual dialogue, as there's simply too much plot to get through, and I…
