A derivative mashup of The Ring and It Follows that also has the benefit of being 25 minutes too long. Not every short film needs to be a feature.

Lost Highway 1997
Watched for the first time in over 20 years, and you can definitely see this as a test run for a lot of what Lynch would try in Mulholland Drive, but always love those vibes only he can provide.

Who is this movie even for? There's no group that McKay doesn't smugly condescend to here, and yet he doesn't actually provide anything new. Bale is great at impersonating Cheney, but that's all it is, an impersonation. It gives no insight into him as a person. The disclaimer at the beginning, about how secretive he is, is a cop out. Just make a documentary next time. Or maybe go back to making comedies, which is what you were actually good at.
