Let me just start by saying I loved it. Before I go into more details, this was my first IMAX experience and it was amazing. HUGE. Every spectacle movie that comes out I will try to make to trek to the nearest IMAX theater to watch. Back to Shang-Chi. He was one of the few Marvel characters that I wasn’t familiar with growing up so seeing a fresh character adapted was a nice treat. Mysticism and martial arts go to together like peanut butter and jelly, or butter and toast, whatever you prefer. The fight choreography was fantastic and the character dynamics were crucial to squeezing out every ounce of drama. It was also nice seeing Wong Kar-wai alum, Tony Leung, in a major Hollywood role. After enjoying, but not loving Marvel’s previous film Black Widow, this was a great return to form. Lastly, I now have hope that a studio could make a live action Dragon Ball Z film after seeing this. Make sure to check Shang-Chi out in theaters!
