Bullet Train

Bullet Train ★★★½

Think Smokin’ Aces, but infinitely better. People hate on this style too harshly, I don’t get it. You can’t fault the film’s consistency. From beginning to end it stays true to its vision. No holds barred action that doesn’t let up for one moment. It’s difficult to manage multiple characters with different motivations and make them all entertaining, yet Bullet Train does so flawlessly. Lemon and Tangerine are amazing. What a partnership and their chemistry is so fun. I’ve enjoyed Brad Pitt’s comedic roles as of late. He’s been leaning into the whole zen/chill characters lately, and the role of Ladybug suits him to a T. The only criticism I’d have is the exposition-heavy dialogue. Audiences aren’t that dumb where they need hand-holding…well maybe some do. Not wholly original, but a cohesive package that is easily the best action movie of the year so far.
