Ben Umstead’s review published on Letterboxd:
A seismic, equally heady and earthy concoction, bubbling with biting humor and delicious whims of meta-play to underscore the all-too crushing, outright freeing dramatic dirge at its core.
That tension Kathleen Collins derives from the dissolution of a marriage, the seeming tug-o-war between that of artistry and academia, performance and philosophy, chaos, spiritual-ecstasy and order is vital, inspiring stuff. This is a film about awakening as much as it is about reimagining, reclaiming and destroying in order to create.
ps. Duane Jones’s entrance is an all-timer.
