Tony Scott loves screens and people looking at screens. If it wasn't for the pre-PRISM bump of being a bit ahead of its time in the "security vs. privacy" debate, this wouldn't be much more than a small blip on the 90's action movie radar. Lots of Scott-isms, the oversaturated lights, the frenetic editing between screens, zoom ins and hard pans. The nods to "The Conversation" are cute, but don't even try to compare the two. Too long and not compelling enough in its examination of the security state. Hackman always fun to see, Will Smith being himself.
