Love, Death & Robots: Pop Squad

Love, Death & Robots: Pop Squad ★★★★½

Best episode of this new series so far. The world has decayed into a dilapidated mess. Mother nature is slowly reclaiming the world as giant skyscrapers dominate this dystopian world. A world where the wealthy live in the sky and attend operas as "Blade Runner" inspired cops hunt down and kill the young as overpopulation has destroyed the world.

This is by far the most nuanced and philosophical episode so far. We essentially get a mix of both "Blade Runner" films as a cop questions his role as an enforcer, killing people to essentially make space.

What I loved about this episode is that it doesn't spoon feed you the answers or explain its world building. It drops you into the middle of a bust and it respects its audience enough that they will be able to follow along and glean the information by paying attention to the story.

The animation is beautiful and the quiet, almost introspective nature of the story hits the mark. This is the sort of Sci-Fi that I crave. I hope this season, with its reduced episodes, has a couple more gems like this one!
