pretty good! as far as the whole horror/thriller as a vehicle for a story about grief or trauma goes this is pretty run of the mill. that whole trend is pretty played out at this point and i find that aspect of this film sorta washed out and bland but outside of that my god is this fun as fuck. the aliens are silly and creepy in an awesome way. their design is nothing to write home about but the…

truly just the most comforting slice of life film. the world is so colorful the whole experience is like a warm hug from a loved one.

it’s honestly so funny that practically the only interesting thing to come out of superhero films in the last decade is something so explicitly not a part any cinematic universe. robert pattinson was entirely a sick fucking choice but colin ferrell is by far the standout here. his performance is so mesmerizingly cartoonish and funny and expressive i love him and his silly accent and facial expressions so much.

    The Twilight Saga: New Moon

    ★½

it’s really lame how bland this series gets aesthetically after the first fucking movie. especially since the plot of this film is a lot funnier than the first. hilarious to give jacob basically his own film when bella never even sniffs the idea of actually liking him. really funny how this series seems to be remembered in the cultural zeitgeist for its love triangle when bella never really fucks w jacob outside of putting him in the friend zone the…

this rules so hard in every conceivable way. robert pattinson on some pure freak shit. kristen stewart is so emotionally stilted it reads like she’s a wes anderson side character. everyone is cunty as fuck. it looks so hilariously washed out and blue it’s awesome. pure camp magic from start to finish. infinitely more personality than anything in the series and that’s obviously bc of catherine hardwick. almost a shame this made so much money bc a series of this directed by her would be perfection

pretty cute and sweet in a sort of unassuming way. just self serious enough to appreciate the effort. but more than anything (bc the whole late 2000s type raunchy comedy thing is mostly bland) i just love how this sort of brought jennifer lawrence out of an acting hiatus apparently ? why ? did she read this script and be like holy fuck this rules cause if she did there has never been a cooler person. she was like fuck yah i wanna beat teenagers up butt fucking naked. fuck yeah i wanna twerk on evan hansen. respect to her craft

fun ! halts itself to be bitter sweet a little more then i would like bc i think there was something funnier to be had here. ayo edebiri is completely wasted in this, it feels like she almost wasn’t there to film at the same time as the rest of the cast which stinks cause she’s awesome. molly gordon shines, she is almost concerningly good at embodying this role (and also apparently incredible in alice by heart according to my…

maybe not my favorite thing ever. it just felt kinda thoughtful and kinda annoying at the same time. maybe too sparse and self indulgent for me to really get into. i might just be in the wrong mindset for it tonight but it mostly wasn’t working for me. jake gyllenhaal rules and the whole schtick is fun and edgy but idk kinda reads like something dumber than i think it’s going for. a mostly good time though i understand why some people swear by it. cast is fun as hell too!
